Over the course of the last 20 years, LeGrande Harvey has made a great
impact on the music scene in Montana. As the writer and composer
of Montana's Official State Ballad, "Montana Melody", LeGrande
has traveled far and wide sharing his special brand of music with
children and adults alike.
Harvey is a surname familiar to the music industry. LeGrande's
brother, Alex, wrote "Delta Dawn", "Reuben James",
and other country favorites. Alex was a major influence on
LeGrande and together they played in a band in the late 70's down in
Texas and throughout the Midwest.
During his college years, LeGrande spent his summers
with the U.S. Forestry service in Montana where he found unbounded
inspiration for his writing and where he elected to settle after graduation.
LeGrande is a versatile artist who has considerable
experience, having shared the stage with such artists as Michael Martin
Murphey, Kris Kristofferson, Hoyt Axton, John Anderson, Ricky Nelson, Willie
Nelson and many others. In 1984 LeGrande was honored by being asked to
write music to a poem written by A. B. Guthrie Jr., Pulitzer prize winning
author.
